Let the FTC Help You with Your Credit Repair
All you need to improve your own credit is a copy of your credit report and a dispute letter template. That’s right; that is your whole FREE credit repair kit! You can do your own credit repair all by yourself and it is completely FREE. In fact, that’s what Uncle Same recommends you do. would you want to shell out hundreds or even thousands of dollars paying a credit repair company to do what you areare completely able to do for yourself?
Everyone can get a free copy of their credit report every year, as discussed by the FTC’s website:
-
Each of the nationwide consumer reporting companies — Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion — is required to provide you with a free copy of your credit report once every 12 months, if you ask for it. The three companies have a central website, a toll-free telephone number, and a mailing address for consumers to order the free annual credit reports the government entitles them to. To order, click on annualcreditreport.com, call 1-877-322-8228, or complete the Annual Credit Report Request Form and mail it to:

This government site also provides you with a sample dispute letter anyone can copy to dispute items on your credit report. Simply customize that letter to the dispute you want to make, address it to the appropriate reporting company (Equifax, Experian, and/or TransUnion), and send your letter(s) out.
Of course you can find tons of other dispute letter templates available online. Judging from the ones I have seen, they all say about the same thing and any of them will do the trick. You can absolutely surf around to find a sample letter you like and use it, but the one on the FTC’s site will work every bit as well as the next one. The site pretty much provides you with a free credit repair kit you can use to repair your credit all on your own. The only expense will be the printing and stamping of the letters, plus whatever time you have to spend doing it. The bottom line, though, is that repairing your own credit will save you hundreds if not thousands of dollars as compared to paying a credit repair company to do it for you.
